Dragon Egg 2 (front left)

Dragon Eggs are Raku fired.

Approx 100mm tall.

Hand formed hollow form, dried and bisque fired to 900 degrees.

Masqued and glazed, fired in Raku kiln to over 1000 degrees.

Removed from the fire and placed on combustible material in a reduction chamber, the carbon is trapped in the unglazed areas, blackening the clay.

This fabulous technique means each piece is original and can never be replicated.

The fire does it work and creates unique treasures.
