Feather Vessel

Softly curved vessel, white clay body. Fired to over 1000 degrees, removed from kiln at 650 degrees .Feathers are carefully laid on the surface of the piece, charring into the surface.
The simple monoprint look is deceptive. The piece is burnished with a polishing stone after each layer or terra sigilata is applied. A minimum of 6 layers are built up.
This is a decorative piece, finished with wax and is not good safe or functional.
